Let me say something that usually makes dashboards uncomfortable.

If your app is 99% crash-free, you’re not winning.

You’re leaking trust, users, and revenue quietly.

Most teams celebrate that number.

Most founders feel relieved when they see it.

Most CTOs move on to the next feature.

And that’s exactly the problem.

Let’s do the math nobody wants to do

If you have 100,000 users, a 99% crash-free rate means:

1,000 people saw your app crash today.

Not this month.

Not last quarter.

Today.

Now ask yourself a more important question:

How many of those users came back?

In 2026, the answer is brutally simple.

They didn’t.

Users don’t retry anymore

There was a time when users tolerated crashes.

They would reopen the app.

Restart their phone.

Blame their internet.

That era is gone.

Today, users compare your app, subconsciously, to the best experiences they use daily.

If your app crashes once during a critical moment, they don’t debug it.

They uninstall it.

Not because your product is bad.

But because their patience is gone.

This is why stability metrics alone are misleading.

Stability is not reliability

Most teams optimize for “stability.”

Stability means:

Crashes are logged

Bugs are fixed eventually

Dashboards look mostly green

Reliability is something else entirely.

Reliability means:

Crashes are predicted, not just reported

Regressions are caught before release

Risk is managed proactively, not reactively

Stability reacts.

Reliability anticipates.

And in modern mobile products, anticipation is everything.

Why “logging crashes” is no longer enough

If your crash strategy is:

“Ship → wait → see crashes → fix”

You’re already late.

By the time a crash appears in your dashboard:

A user has already been frustrated

Trust has already been damaged

Retention has already taken a hit

Logging is table stakes.

Prevention is the real advantage.

This is where the best teams quietly pull ahead.

What high-performing teams do differently

The teams I see scaling successfully don’t just monitor crashes.

They:

Track crash patterns by device, OS, and feature usage

Watch trends, not just totals

Treat crashes as signals, not bugs

They ask better questions:

Which features introduce the most instability?

Which releases increase risk before users complain?

Which devices are quietly bleeding users?

And they don’t answer these questions manually.

They use systems.

How I approach crash prevention today

My baseline setup looks like this:

Sentry for deep crash context, breadcrumbs, and performance data

AI-assisted analysis to spot patterns across releases

Release gating based on risk, not just test coverage

Instead of asking:

“What crashed?”

I ask:

“What’s likely to crash next?”

That mindset shift changes everything.

It turns reliability from a reactive chore into a strategic advantage.

Reliability is a business metric

This is the part many teams miss.

Crashes are not a technical problem.

They are a business cost.

Every crash has a hidden price:

Lost retention

Lower ratings

Higher support load

Slower growth

When you frame reliability as a business metric, priorities change.

Suddenly:

Release quality matters more than release speed

Architecture decisions carry financial weight

Prevention beats hero debugging sessions

Good architecture reduces crashes.

Good systems reduce burn rate.

The uncomfortable truth

Most teams don’t have a “bug problem.”

They have:

An architecture problem

A release discipline problem

A feedback loop problem

Refactoring later is always more expensive than designing for reliability early.

And 99% crash-free is not a success metric.

It’s a warning sign.

Bonus: Zero-Tolerance Reliability Checklist

Use this as a quick self-audit for your mobile app.

Crash Reality Check

Do you know how many users experienced a crash today?

Can you tie crashes to specific features or flows?

Do you track crash trends across releases, not just totals?

Prevention Systems

Are crashes analyzed before users report them?

Do you block releases that introduce higher crash risk?

Are risky devices, OS versions, or edge cases flagged early?

Architecture & Process

Can you add a feature without destabilizing unrelated areas?

Is crash prevention part of planning, not just debugging?

Do engineers have time to reduce risk or only react to it?

Tooling

Are you using a tool like Sentry for deep context?

Do you use AI to summarize, cluster, and prioritize crash data?

Is reliability reviewed regularly, not only after incidents?

If you answered “no” to more than a few of these, that’s not failure.

It’s clarity.

And clarity is where improvement starts.

If you want help turning crash data into a real reliability system, you know where to find me.

Because in modern mobile products, reliability isn’t optional.

It’s the product.

– András

It’s a compressed version of running a company.

Think about it.

As a freelancer, you’re forced to learn:

Negotiation (rates, scope, expectations)

Sales (convincing someone to trust you)

Delivery (shipping on time, under pressure)

Communication (updates, feedback, conflict)

Finance (invoices, taxes, cash flow)

Most employees never touch these skills for years.

Freelancers learn them all at once.

That’s not instability. That’s accelerated growth.

If you treat freelancing like random gigs, it stays random.

If you treat it like a business, it becomes one.

The Shift That Changes Everything

The moment things changed for me wasn’t when I charged more.

It was when I stopped thinking like a worker and started thinking like a builder.

Instead of asking:

“How do I get more clients?”

I started asking:

“What am I building toward?”

Portfolio?

Agency?

Product?

Freedom?

Freelancing isn’t the end goal.

It’s the training ground.

It teaches you leverage before you have a team.

Ownership before you have investors.

Decision‑making before you have safety nets.

That’s why so many great founders started as freelancers.

Freelancing Is Not Random Gigs. It’s Your First Company.

When you drop the myths:

You stop racing to the bottom on price

You stop overcommitting

You start building systems instead of reacting to requests

And suddenly, freelancing feels less chaotic and more intentional.

Not because it’s easy.

But because it finally makes sense.

If you’re freelancing right now and feeling stuck, ask yourself this:

Are you treating it like a hustle…

or like the foundation of something bigger?

Because done right, freelancing isn’t the ceiling.

It’s just the beginning.

– András

You don’t need a co-founder. You don’t need venture funding. You don’t even need a pitch deck.

If you’ve ever built something from scratch, dealt with a client, shipped on a deadline, and got paid for solving a real-world problem, you’ve already been in business.

The only difference? You called it freelancing.

But after 10+ years building apps, consulting, and running my own digital studio, I can tell you this:

Freelancing taught me more about business than any job, course, or startup ever did.And if you treat it right, freelancing becomes the best possible training ground for entrepreneurship.

Let’s talk about what I wish more builders, developers, and solo creators knew.

The Problem: Most People Freelance Like Employees

They chase tasks.

They wait for briefs.

They bill by the hour.

And they burn out, because they’re doing all the work without getting any of the leverage.

Freelancing becomes a trap only if you treat it like one.

But what if you treated freelancing like a lean startup instead?

A testing ground for your ideas.

A playground for your systems.

A sandbox for your long-term freedom.

Let me break down the 7 lessons that changed the game for me and helped me grow from solo dev to a founder working with 6-figure clients.

1. Set Clear Goals: Freelancing Without Direction = Remote Employment

The biggest mistake I see?

Freelancers who never decide what they’re building toward.

Is it a product? An agency? A better portfolio? Total time freedom?

Without that clarity, you just become an outsourced task-doer. You may be free from the office, but you’re still locked into someone else’s roadmap.

→ Decide what you want. Every “yes” becomes easier after that.

2. Build a Lean, Context-Rich Portfolio

Your portfolio isn’t just a gallery. It’s a sales tool.

Don’t just show screenshots. Show outcomes.

Who was the client?

What was the problem?

How did your work move the needle?

Most clients aren’t designers or devs. They want to know:

Can you solve my problem like you solved theirs?

→ Use case studies, before/after metrics, and short Loom walkthroughs.

Context is king.

3. Price Based on Value, Not Time

This one took me years to learn.

You’re not getting paid for hours.

You’re getting paid for outcomes.

If you save a client €10,000 a month, why are you charging €500?

Learn to anchor your price to what they get, not what you do.

→ Want help? I used ChatGPT to write proposal drafts, test different pricing models, and even role-play client calls.

4. Communicate Like a Business, Not a Beginner

You don’t need to impress clients with late-night work. You just need to be:

Predictable

Proactive

Easy to work with

That means follow-ups, clear check-ins, and over-communicating when needed.

→ Automate weekly updates with Notion + Zapier

→ Use async Loom videos for progress reports

→ Use AI to summarize feedback and prep agendas

Simple = scalable.

5. Meet Deadlines. No Excuses.

This alone puts you in the top 10%.

Not being perfect. Not being the best.

Just delivering what you promised, on time.

Freelancing is built on trust. You earn it with reliability.

And no, burnout isn’t a badge of honor. It’s a sign your system is broken.

6. Keep Updating Your Skills

Want better clients? Don’t just raise your rates, raise your value.

Take that course you’ve been ignoring

Tackle a side project outside your comfort zone

Shadow someone better than you

Study SaaS pricing, design patterns, or mobile architecture

Freelancers who learn fast, grow fast.

And now with AI? You can learn 5x faster. Use GPT to:

Summarize new frameworks

Generate sample code

Build test ideas

Draft onboarding docs

You don’t need to master everything. Just evolve consistently.

7. Track Your Finances Like a Real Business

Revenue is not profit.

I learned this the hard way, late taxes, surprise expenses, the feeling of “I made money but I’m broke.”

Even a simple system beats chaos:

Use a Notion template

Track income, invoices, taxes, and savings

Get an accountant as soon as you can afford one

Freedom starts with clarity, and cash flow.

Bonus: Freelancing as a Business Crash Course

Let’s zoom out for a second.

When you freelance with intention, you learn:

Sales

Negotiation

Client management

Delivery

Brand building

Marketing

Cash flow

Pricing psychology

You build confidence.

You build patterns.

You build leverage.

So the next time someone tells you freelancing is just a stepping stone…

You can smile and say: “No. It’s the training ground.”

Take This With You

If you’re freelancing in 2025:

Set your own roadmap

Automate what drains you

Use AI to do more with less

Build like a business, not a gig worker

And remember:

You don’t need to wait for a “real” startup to start thinking like a founder.

You’re already in the game.

The question is, will you play it small?

Or will you level up?

— András

When I launched my first product, I was obsessed with frameworks, tools, and clean code. I had all the hard skills but still, the launch didn’t go as I imagined.

Not because the product wasn’t useful.

Not because it was buggy.

But because I didn’t have the right mindset.

And nobody talks about this enough.

Most new builders, founders, and even seasoned developers think that success is purely technical .“Just ship it” and everything falls into place. But here’s the truth:

Mindset is the multiplier.

Without it, your perfect product won’t survive real-world friction.

So now, I’m sharing 6 entrepreneurial mindsets I wish someone forced into me earlier. The ones that separate high-performing builders from the ones who burn out, stall, or never ship at all.

Let’s dive in.

1. Progress Over Perfection

Perfection is the enemy of momentum.

I used to tweak every pixel, obsess over every edge case, and delay launching because “it wasn’t ready yet.”

But guess what?

Your product is never ready.

Top founders ship at 70%, then let real users shape version 2.

Why? Because speed matters more than speculation.

You can’t iterate on something that doesn’t exist.

And while you’re perfecting v1, someone else is already collecting feedback, learning fast, and building v3.

Start ugly. Ship small. Iterate daily.

2. Systems Over Goals

Setting goals gives you direction.

But systems? They create motion.

Every founder sets revenue goals, user growth targets, or content schedules.

But the winners?

They build habits, routines, and workflows that move the needle whether motivation is high or low.

I stopped focusing on “reach X users” and instead focused on:

Posting 3x/week

Talking to 5 users per month

Running weekly product sprints

The goals became inevitable, because the system was running.

You don’t need better goals. You need better systems.

3. Leverage Over Effort

You can’t outwork the world.

But you can out-leverage it.

Too many solo founders still think working harder = growing faster.

That might work in the early days, but it doesn’t scale.

You grow by:

Delegating

Automating with AI

Building once and letting the system run

Instead of doing everything manually, I started using:

ChatGPT to plan and generate marketing content

Zapier and Notion to automate my weekly workflows

Systems to onboard clients without touching a doc

If you’re still relying on brute force, you’re building a treadmill, not a business.

4. Questions Over Answers

In tech, we love being right.

But the truth? The best builders are the ones asking the best questions.

When something isn’t working, most people double down on doing more of the same.

But the elite ask:

What am I missing?

What would this look like if it were easy?

Why hasn’t someone already solved this?

Asking better questions has saved me months of building features no one wanted.

One well-placed question in a user interview gave me a pivot that unlocked a completely new use case and doubled engagement.

Curiosity beats confidence. Every time.

5. Energy Over Hours

You don’t need 16-hour days.

You need 3 hours of laser focus.

When I stopped measuring my day by hours worked and started tracking energy and output, everything changed.

Ask yourself:

When do I feel most creative?

When am I sharpest?

When do I lose steam?

Then, build your day around it. Protect your deep work. Turn off Slack. Block time. Move the needle.

Also: don’t skip sleep, hydration, or movement. You’re the asset manage accordingly.

The goal isn’t to work more. It’s to work better.

6. Decades Over Quarters

Everyone wants results this week.

But the best founders are playing a different game.

I’ve seen people obsess over growth hacks, short-term wins, and viral content only to burn out, disappear, or quit.

And I get it. I’ve done it too.

But when I started asking:

“How will this decision age in 10 years?”

…my perspective shifted.

I stopped chasing hype and focused on building a real brand, real skills, and real relationships.

Momentum compounds. But only if you stay in the game.

Final Thoughts

Mindset is the foundation of everything.

Yes, tools matter. AI is changing the game.

Yes, you need systems, skills, and strategy.

But without the right mindset?

You’ll second-guess your progress, overthink your next step, and never feel ready enough to launch.

So if you’re stuck, here’s your reminder:

Ship version 1 today

Build your system tomorrow

Use leverage instead of force

Ask better questions

Protect your energy

And play the long game

That’s the real cheat code.

They tap around aimlessly. They close the app. They never come back.

You built the backend like a fortress. You optimized every pixel of your codebase. But your user was never part of the build process.

So they bounced.

And here’s the hard truth: Clean architecture won’t save a confusing product.

The Misconception That Holds Engineers Back

Developers love structure. We thrive on logic, clarity, and technical elegance.

So we build systems that feel beautiful on the inside.

But the user never sees that. Start Thinking Like a Designer

You don’t need to become a designer to appreciate what design does.

But in 2025 and beyond, every great engineer should have design awareness.

Because this is what separates good products from great ones.

Here’s where to start:

Intuitive flows

Can someone unfamiliar with the app complete a core task without reading a manual?
